Precolombian art of goldsmithy

In prespanish Colombia the art of goldsmithy came to highest perfection.
In the gold-museum of Bogota a remarkable collection is shown. The great variety of the gold-works is very impressive. The works come from different cultures that developed simultaneously and they used different techniques.
A widespread technique was the method of wax-melting. The model of the object is at first made out of beeswax, then covered with clay and then heated until the wax has melted. In the now existing space inside the liquid metal is poured. After cooling down the clay-covering can be broken off and the ready-made raw-figure comes to light.
Likewise are made the replications manufactured today.
